Wordfeud for Windows Phone has been released

by wordfeud

The long wait is finally over: Wordfeud for Windows Phone has arrived!

We’ve made a few small changes here and there as part of adapting the game for the Windows Phone platform. But if you’ve played Wordfeud before you’ll feel right at home with the Windows Phone version. Perhaps the most exciting difference is that Wordfeud for Windows Phone features Live Tiles. On the front you’ll find the number of games waiting for you as well as an unread chat indicator. On the back there’s a brief summary of the last move as well as the opponent’s profile picture.

Grab the free trial from the Marketplace. You can pay a few dollars to get rid of the in-game ads, but otherwise the trial is fully featured and without any time limits.

New Danish dictionary live now

by wordfeud

We’ve just made the switch to Dansk Sprognævn’s “Retskrivningsordbogen” (see the previous blog post for more info).

This is entirely a server side change, so it’s not necessary to install any app updates.

Wordfeud for Windows Phone sneak peek

by wordfeud

The Wordfeud family will soon have a new member, as Wordfeud for Windows Phone is nearing completion. We plan to release it on Februrary 1. This coincides with the Nokia Lumia 800 launch in Norway and Sweden. As you can see from the photos, the Nokia has been Team Wordfeud’s main WP7 dev phone.

Wordfeud reaches agreement with Dansk Sprognævn to use “Retskrivningsordbogen”

by wordfeud

We’ve just signed an agreement with Dansk Sprognævn that allows us to use “Retskrivningsordbogen 2001″ in Wordfeud. The plan is to make the switch from the current Danish dictionary later this week. This is entirely a server side change, so you won’t have to update your Android or iOS Wordfeud app.

We hope this will be welcome news among our Danish users!

Update (Danish):

Dansk Sprognævn gør opmærksom på at der er 60000 opslagsord, og at de bøjede former er dannet automatisk. Derfor kan det ikke helt udelukkes at der kan forekomme enkelte fejl i de bøjede ord. Listen indeholder ca. 400.000 ordformer i alt.

Update Jan 23:
We’ve now switched to Dansk Sprognævn’s “Retskrivningsordbogen 2001″.

Wordfeud v1.2.11

by wordfeud

We’ve just released Wordfeud v1.2.11 for both Android and iOS!

The biggest change is that we’ve added a second Swedish dictionary which only contains the base form of a word. This has been a common request from our Swedish users. You can choose which Swedish dictionary to use when you start a new game.

The iOS update also comes with the following changes:
- Fixed a bug that caused the rack tiles to become partially hidden if Internet Connection Sharing was enabled.
- The entries in the game list now show which dictionary is being used (useful when playing games in multiple languages).
- Changed status bar color to black.

New Swedish dictionary (live now!)

by wordfeud

We’ve now begun using our new Swedish dictionary from The Swedish Academy (Svenska Akademien). Like the previous Swedish dictionary, this one contains all valid word forms and endings, some of which may be rarely used in daily speech or writing. However, in a day or two we’re releasing an updated version of Wordfeud that has an additional Swedish dictionary. This one is much stricter and only contains the base form of a word, no endings or conjugations allowed.

We hope this change will make everyone happy!

Updated Danish dictionary

by wordfeud

We’ve just updated our Danish dictionary (based on The Concise Danish Dictionary). More than 50000 words have been added, many of which are missing forms of existing words.

We’re aware that there are other sources that may provide a better suited Danish dictionary (Dansk Sprognævn for instance), and we are evaluating options.

New Swedish dictionary part 2

by wordfeud

(Another moon language post)

New Swedish dictionary coming soon (Svenska Akademien)

by wordfeud

Problems for Dutch users after iOS5 upgrade

by wordfeud

Update: v1.2.10 is now available in the App Store.

After updating to iOS 5 many of our Dutch users have started experiencing “game sync” and other strange error messages while playing Wordfeud. We believe we’ve found the problem, and an update was sent to the App Store for review a few days ago. It should be available early next week.
